This is for librarians everywhere...

but, especially for that Brandon, Mississippi school librarian who grew up in Darrtown, Ohio.

An elderly man had an 8 AM appointment with his doctor.

Unfortunately, the doctor was delayed and when he walked in the examination room where the elderly man was waiting, the elderly man told the doctor that he needed to finish quickly, because he had to be somewhere else by 9 AM.

The doctor politely asked where the man needed to be at such an early hour. The man proudly said that each morning at 9 AM, he goes to the local hospital to eat breakfast with his wife. He added that he had done so for the past five years - without fail.

"Five years!" remarked the doctor and he then inquired about the condition of the man's wife. The elderly man explained that his wife suffers from Alzheimer's disease and that, sadly, she no longer remembers who he is.

The doctor then asked the elderly man why he continues to go so faithfully each morning, when his wife doesn't even know who his is.

"Because," the man replied, "I know who she is."

I created this page, so that I could share items that I enjoy ...things that are, for me, humorous and thought-provoking.

I considered naming this page "Stuff." But, I like the multi-syllabic sound of "miscellanea," and so it won out.

If you would like to suggest some additional items, let me know.
